Our Main East lease is one that we store many of our salable oysters on. The weedy bottom in some spots makes a great home for all the food our oysters need to grow. Due to the weedy bottom, we find a whole arrangement of animals here popularly, Razorfish and Fiddler-Rays. The most beautiful part of the lease has to be the sandy, clear bottom, that somedays makes it difficult to believe you're at work. Main East looks out onto a majority of the other leases in the area. Providing an amazing view of other farmers, boats and unique leases. It is quite the social spot to see what others are up to, have a chat or just a friendly wave with other farmers.
Main West is where we store all of our Two-Setters. Two-Setters are a different model of oyster basket which encourage fast growth for smaller oysters. This method fattens them up and then develops their rounder more aesthetic shape, therefore fatter meat. We develop their shape in this method while the Oysters are young and we then grade them into the more convenient baskets seen above for easy moment and stacking when they are in need of frequent grading or selling.
